About Me
In memorium; passed on in the Fall of 2008. Preston was with us for only a few years, but we'll remember him fondly. While the rest of us were beginning to think about dragging the runway or whacking the weeds, Preston was already out there doing it. He joined us as a novice and pursued R/C flying with a sense of wonder and gratitude at finally realizing a lifetime dream that reminded the rest of us how very fortunate we are. After progressing to fast movers and some really exuberant aerobatics, Preston decided he best enjoyed flying the old classics slowly and elegantly. You could find him doing just that; sitting out there on the tailgate of his truck most any early morning before the wind rose up. He was the best kind of good company, and I miss him. Erics' words cover the feelings we all have about Preston, He proved your never too old to do what you want to do. Although I really never got to know him but on those few occasions I flew at the Cloud Dusters field, he was right in the middle of the operations and a gentleman to everyone.
Have to echo Eric's comments and feelings. Over the last two years, Preston and I spent a lot of hours together at the field, since we tended to be "duration" flyers - him with his Super Buccaneer and me with my ill-fated Electra. We both tended to have trouble getting our knees to work consistently, but between the two of us and his big pickup, managed to recover most of our "mistakes." As long as we didn't talk politics, we were good friends, but I definitely miss having him to agitate..... as well as him being good company and willing to give you the shirt off his back....
